His name is one that has been mentioned in the past as a possible replacement for John Boehner as House Speaker, so it’s natural to hear the talk starting up again now that there will soon be a long-overdue vacancy in that position.
But Rep Trey Gowdy (R-SC) has made it clear that when that position is filled it will not be his name which is painted on the office door. He doesn’t want the job.
On Friday Gowdy’s office sent an email to the Daily Caller in which his communications director, Amanda Duvall wrote, “Rep. Gowdy has said his time and attention will continue to be devoted to the work assigned to him, He is not interested in any leadership positions and believes one can have influence without the title.”
He’s heavily involved in getting to the bottom of what happened in Benghazi as Select Committee Chairman, weaving through the web of lies and deception of the Clinton, Kerry and Obama camps. He’s also navigating the highly politicized State and Justice Departments in the process, work that is extremely important to our nation and where his abilities and experience could be vital in determining whether or not we ever get to the truth.
He certainly has the potential to make a tremendous impact through the fruits of those efforts; too bad for Mrs. Clinton.
