There are many, many things to dislike about President Barack Obama, but one of the most glaring and important issues I have with him is his total disrespect and lack of interest in our country’s soldiers and veterans.
The way he treats our military makes me sick beyond words. It’s certainly not how anyone, let alone the President of the United States, should treat those who sacrifice so much for our country.
Think back to George W. Bush’s presidency and you will know that the White House was not always so disrespectful of our armed forces.
In fact, while recently attending the Military Service Initiative Summit, a reporter asked George W. Bush what he missed most about his time in office. His answer was remarkable and shows his true character.
“I miss saluting those who volunteer to put themselves in harm’s way, three of whom are here today. And I have vowed that for the remainder of my life that I will do all I can do to help our vets,” he said.
If you were to ask President Barack Obama and FLOTUS Michelle Obama this same question, they would probably say something about expensive vacations and other luxuries.
Bush has done something incredible as his own way of giving back to our nation’s military forces. He has opened the George W. Bush Presidential Center, which actually hosted the summit Bush was speaking at when he made this jaw-dropping statement. The summit was held to “support of post-9/11 veterans and their families.”
“The goal of the Military Service Initiative is to empower veterans to make a smooth and successful transition to successful life. – President George W. Bush,” the foundation’s Instagram account proudly boasts.
“They are the one percent of America who kept the 99 percent safe. And we owe them and their families, a deep debt of gratitude.” – President George W. Bush,” it also posted.
This is only one of many organizations that Bush supports. Others include the Kids Wish Network, Susan G. Komen For The Cure, Red Cross, PeacePlayers International, Operation Smile, Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, and of course, the Salvation Army.
